Honestly, it wont help you much. And the difference between the two is slim to none. Get a cheap short ram and call it a day.

on a side not, I have a AEM V2, buy it from me.

The difference is minimal. ther's been many post like this before so you probably wont get much feedback but short rams make a hell of alot more sense to me.

I heart my CAI....cept I couldn't drive in the rain because the engine would bog. That was fun.

There is one of two options missing; "OEM" or "Blah". By the way, go talk to an automotive engineer and find out why short rams make more power than a cold air, cold airs make more power than short rams, OEM intakes make more power than cold airs or short rams, and cold airs and short rams make more power than OEM intakes. Honestly, do you really think any form of automotive engineering is just black and white?

It's not a waste of money - a "short ram" is easy as hell to remove (easier than the stock air box) if you want to do work on the car (ie. thermostat) and IMO it looks better also.

As far as the gains they're both useless intake bolt-ons on a 4 cyl engine.

Mine'a 20 dollar short ram pipe bought from a member here on H-T with a K&N filter plugged on it and a hole I drilled towards the TB for the IAT.

I've got to disagree with you there. I've got a short ram/velocity stack setup and it's great. It also makes power, not much but some at least.

the gains are very minimal.. the most you'll see is 1-3 hp haha... at least you'll sound good

Syndacate, I'd have to disagree with about looks. Nothing looks cheesier or more out of place under the hood than an aftermarket intake. Granted they are really simple and easy to remove, nothing looks more clean on an engine than a giant mess a black plastic soaked with Mother's.

I did. I don't have the dyno sheets handy, but it was like a couple hp, yes. I could give a **** how it sounds, the entire thing cost me $100.

I agree.

People should create the "Honda Intake Challenge". 3 cars, all with the same modifications and each has either a modified stock air box, SRI and CAI. Have a **** load of people drive each of the cars and based on their butt dyno, have them tell you what they think is which.

yea i agree, if u want to go and spend 300 or so on a CAI like aem V2 and only get the 5 hp increase if that go ahead and waste ur money, but the stock box with a K&N drop in filter will probably be just as good just remove the silencer box to get ur "sound" and call it a day. for 50 bucks.

I might as well throw might 2 cents in here. When i took off my CAI AEM hybrid to a 3' short ram i lost some midrange power but nothing notible on the high end

ive got some of my buddies goin all crazy bout intakes. . quote they said." dam when i put on the intake shiet hella fast." lol, in some case, i do see some people lose to a stock motor with just intake.
i rather have stock, cus when u get pulled over, the cop cant expletive wid u.

Yea, that's the only thing I'm wondering is if it'll decrease gas mileage by switching intake setups. My friend who had a Civic switched to the K&N Typhoon setup and said that he picked up 2-3 MPG, so it's hard to say.

I've had both a SRI and a CAI.

CAI only made my car louder. No performance gain. No gas mileage change.

SRI made the car lose bottom end power. No performance gain at higher end either. No gas mileage change.

1 or 2 hp can make a difference in a race with both cars being the same and similar driver.

I tried stock, SRI(k&n type filter),(SRI with stocking!), CAI, AEMV2, and 2 types of turbos in my old 96 civic ex. Besides the turbo the best intake with the CAI!When it comes down to it, if you have a SOHC the cheapest and best way to make good power is turbo.
