Cold Air Intake

Cold Air Intake
I'm new here and I'm just starting to get into this whole car thing. I have a 95 honda civic hatchback cx. I want to start upgrading it and people tell me to start with a cold air intake. So what's a good but affordable cold air intake for my car?

Re: Cold Air Intake
What are your plans for the car? Power goals? How much money do you have?
Set up what you want for the car in the end after figuring out how much money you have available, and then go for it.
If you do not know what you want, I would suggest to start saving for suspension work and not worry about the beastly 1.5L under the hood at this time.

WOW you are an idiot.
Anyways, if you just picked the car up and haven't done an oil change I suggest you do. Also do a tune up (spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor)
Most people start off with a short ram/cold air intake. Its a nice mod to get you started so enjoy it.

Well i have $400 right now and i figure im going to spend 250-300 on new rims and tires. Ive had the car for awhile now so all the tune up things have been taken care of.

Re: Cold Air Intake
Jesus people, sisterfister stated that a CAI proven with all sorts of testing etc etc etc to add hp, is much more costly than making your own. That's all.
Enough, hater-tech, we are all here to help to the OP.
OP, like a few people (myself included) have said, find out what you want in the end, what you plans are for the car, and then go for it.
EDIT:
What wheels are you going to be getting with that amount of money? j/w. If the tires you have now are fine, get a tune up done (if needed) first, and then start saving for what you want to do with the car. The possibilities are endless, especially if you have the cash :D

Yuck!!! Just my IMO though. The fat fives may be cool now, since they are not steelies, but trust me, there are NOT much better than steelies.
What color is your EG hatch?

Re: Cold Air Intake
Sweet.. I love white eg hatches. However, OEM wheels that are painted are worth less than their non-painted counter-part IMO. I would suggest some nice polished GRS blades, and then go for some suspension work.

Re: Cold Air Intake
I removed the AEM CAI and DC Sports header that came with my stock '94 CX when I bought it. I figured I would free up some mula and spend them elsewhere than have these unnoticeable gains. The CAI may make a difference in MPGs but other than that it serves purely for looks.
I also sold the AEM CAI for another reason which is to prevent hydrolock, more importantly.

Re: Cold Air Intake
OP-
I would recommend saving your money unless you plan on building the motor. Otherwise I would keep it stock (for reliability) and not mess with the great MPG it gets. I suggest spending the money elsewhere such as an alarm, if you don't have one already.

Re: Cold Air Intake
ebay, or make ur own out of 2.5" pvc piping the plastic conducts less heat than the aluminum used in an aftermarket intake so it may do u better. plus it would only cost ya like $50 for everything including the cuplers

Re: Cold Air Intake
Well i plan on keeping the car for awhile. I kinda want to make it look nice before i get into the performance. But i do want up to hp eventually.
