I had Skunk2 coilovers on my car for about a month - basically, until I couldn't take them anymore. IMHO they perform great but they are absolutely unsuitable for street driving unless you enjoy an unbearably harsh ride.

I picked up a set of Ground Controls paired with Koni Yellows, and haven't thought about suspension again (in both of the civics I've owned).

Ground Control/Koni

For $400 youre not likely to get more than a set of ok shocks and good lowering springs - AGX and H&R

$400 won't get you a set of decent coilovers unless you're only referring to the sleeves. For sleeves I'd recommend Ground Controls. But for anything else like a full coilover you'll need to spend closer to a grand and up. For full coilovers that aren't harsh and great for daily driving, I recommend H&R street coilovers. I've had these on my car for the last 2 years and they're very well suited to daily driving IMO.

Go with a tokico illumina shock and strut 5 way adjustable and a h&r lowering spring might be closer to 500 but its worth the cost. Dont waste your money on coilovers unless you plan on spending closer to 1000, you wont get anywere near a stock like ride and are going to bounce and make irritating noises all day.

I heart my tokico illuminas and skunk2 lowering springs. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Your best bet would probably be a set of Tein Basics, since you're looking for a cushy ride and a visually appealing ride height, not performance.

Tein Basics usually go for around $750.

Skunk 2 worked for me...and I live in L.A. with all the damn potholes!
