Have a CEL on and it's giving me a P0420 which means my cat converter effeciency is low. Obviously its an OBDII ('98 d16y8), and my only thoughts are either a bad o2 sensor or a bad cat? I dont see how my cat can go bad.... it's got the basic bolt ons w/ 80k miles.... Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I had the same thing on my 2000 EX. It was a bad cat. By Federal law, it has a longer warranty than the car, but you might just be out of that area. I think the federal warranty on that is something like 5 or 7 years and either 70 or 80k miles.

If you are just out of warranty, I'd pick up a carsound cat and swap it out.
