Code 67
My mechanic, who has just replaced the coil and changed spark plugs and rotor cap, says his device trying to detect why my check engine light keeps coming on says it reads code 67.
What does this mean? My Civic LX is a 2000 1.6L, 172,000 miles, standard. Timing belt was replaced in September of 2010.
I hope to take it back home which is approximately 2400 miles. Please help!

Re: Code 67
Code 67 generally means that the catalytic converter (cat) is toast, though rule out an exhaust leak first.
The cat is killed when the engine runs too rich for too long, which is often caused by engine misfiring due to ignition system problems.

Re: Code 67
When the engine misfires, unburnt fuel in the cylinders moves into the exhaust system and can burn inside and melt the catalytic converter. This can happen quite rapidly if there is a lot of fuel in the exhaust or can take longer if there are moderate levels.
