i had the same code, and it was the temperature sensor on the head a little bit south of the vtec solenoid. i believe its a 2 wire white round connection (atleast it was on my gsr). its like a 10 dollar part, and can be swapped out in like 15 minutes.
and the idleing problem is normal since it sends a signal to the ECU to either dump in more fuel, or not enough while the car is warming up, etc.

hmm... it would kill it more than anything.
you sure your idle screw is set right, or your IACV (idle air control valve) is good, or not dirty? has your throttle cable been removed recently? check to see if your throttle isnt a little open. that could be a different problem.

it doesnt always throw a code, it could be something mechanical, and not electrical. i'd just go through it, and see if i can find something easy. if not your best bet is to take it to a mechanic.
