Default Code 3 on '92 B18C1 hatch

Here's a quick rundown..

Car ran fine until today. It had 2 leaking spark plug tube seals, so i replaced all 4, and put in new NGK Iridium plugs. (OEM)

I expected it to smoke a little since the oil went into the cylinder when the spark plug was removed. I've done this same thing on my 1st Gen B16A and had no problems other than a little smoke at first. Well it seamed to run fine, then after about 2 miles of driving I got on it a little, say 7k RPMs, and get a CEL code 3.

I removed and inspected the sensor, looks fine and O-ring is in place. Checked all connections and hoses and found nothing. I'm assuming this has to have something to do with the oil and smoking, but it hasn't gone away. I have since put approx. 20 miles on it and reset the ECU and still has the code.

Any suggestions?? I did a search and found nothing helpful..

Code 3 is MAP sensor. I'm having same problem but wit my B16a. Try replacing the MAP sensor?

Yeh I knew it was the MAP sensor.

I don't have one to replace it with. But what's the likeliness of it going out like that, ya know? I removed and inspected it and it literally looks brand new.

Plus when I did the search, sounded like everyone else had no luck when replacing the sensor either. I don't wanna waste my money, but I do want it fixed..

I've got a buddy with a spare MAP, so I'll try that tomorrow. If anyone has any ideas though, let me know..

I'm starting to think it has nothing to do with the oil getting into the combustion chamber but it seams awfully coincidental to me..

If not the MAP sensor.. try checking the wiring.

Okay, I tried a known good MAP sensor and it didn't work. I even tried mine on a nother car and it was working fine.

I'm check ing the wiring but I'm definetely no electrician.

Anyone got any ideas??

well i dont know if this is your prob or not but i had the same thing happen. check your ecu and make sure none of the wires came loose, i had a pin come out and it ended up being the one for the map sensor and after i fixed that had no more problems.....just and idea you might want to check out.

**UPDATE**

Today I decided to give it one last try on everything, since I refuse to pay someone else to work on my car.

Got the 'ol multimeter and test light out and then went through a lot of BS to find the obvious. Like helpmycivic said, it ended up being the white wire from my MAP being loose on the ECU harness. No idea how this happened, but it's fixed now.

I actually found this earlier today, but wanted to give credit to him since he mentioned it and i just hadn't read it.
