Code 23. Knock sensor - Help Shut it offfffff Thread
I know most people who have done swaps have this problem and I know someone out there can fix this with out bypassing it or changing to a p28 ECU.
So some one help me shut it off.
My set up is 94 USDM GSR motor in a 94 CX Hatch.
My problem:
My CEL come on after car warms up and rpm ever 3K
Knock sensor is known to be good. I used the GSR wireharness with this swap so the wire for the knock is wired from the tower plug to the ECU.
Not sure what else to check.
If i should have used the CX wireharness let me know.
Also, what difference.
Thanks
Hope some one can help me an all others who have the same problem.

Are you running 91 octane? Does the code come on when its cold or only when its warmed up? Im off to work so i cant really help more but check the wiring. What i would suggest is run a new wire from the knock straight to the ecu (D3). Also try swapping out the knock.

Bump. Any other help to solve this weird problem
Engine is running on 91 oct. Wires are connected and CEL comes on when engine is warm, because thats when it starts looking for Knock, could it be my engine knocking which cause the check like to come one or does it only come on if theres no signal.
But i dont hear any knocking or scratching.

either your knock sensor is done for, or you have the plugs mixed up. same thing happened to my friend a couple days ago, the knock sensor plug and the plug for the butterflies in the intake mani look exactly the same

It has nothing to do with your engine knocking, all this cel means is that the ecu is not receiving a signal from the sensor, be it a broken sensor or a break in the connection somewhere in the wire. I had the same thing on my engine, it turned out to be a shitty connection, rewired and cleaned it up and its been fine ever since

i was running a jdm p30 in my car for a couple of weeks when i was working on my ecu and it was down.. the check engine light wouldnt come on until it was a little warm ( enough for vtec to activate ) and i romped it.. or 5 minutes after i start the car

Took a while but no one solve my problem, So I solved it my self.
Heres what to do if you have same problem.
1. Cut the plug from the harness leaving a little wire left for the connection. (about 1 inch)
2. Take a RCA wire. In a RCA wire there are two wires. Outer and Inner. Strip the end and pull back the outer wires away from the inside wire.
3. strip the inside wire and connect it to the plug. Tape it with Electrical tape push back the outer wires over the taped part and tape over it agian.
4. Cover it with plastic from the harness. or you can use any plastic wire cover which you can buy at any store that sales wire stuff (dont forget to plug it to the knock sensor after your done.)
5. Slice the other end the same way as step 2, and follow step 3 agian but this time plug it to the ecu.
6. Next ground the outer wire from the ECU side to the chassie and your done.
(Important- Make sure the outer and inner wire does not touch each other)
This should solve any Working Knock sensor problem.
