that should be the vtec oil pressure switch not the solenoid.

Yep. First check whether your engine oil is low.

that's what i was about to say too lol.. if your oil level is low then it doesn't have enough pressure to have vtec kick in.

Did you just now verify that the oil level is full? Otherwise, measure the oil pressure.

So now you have topped off the oil, right? The next step is to clear the code from the ECU and go drive the car again. Maybe the code won't return.

Sounds like a wiring issue to me. Lacking the 30 mL of oil that fills the LSV line won't be enough to prevent vtec engagement. Trace the wiring from the solenoid to the ECU. See what you come up with. Clearing the code is at best a bandaid.

Depends on how low the oil may have been when VTEC engaged. If the oil level was fine, then I agree with your recommendation. If the oil level happened to be substantially low, then it would be wise to top it off, clear the code, and go for a test drive.

Edit: So I see the oil level is fine and the code is still thrown. You can test the circuit and measure the oil pressure as detailed in the service manual.

so hitting vtec could cause my circuit to get all screwed up...and with a multimeter do i test in ohms or in volts...black tip to ground and red tip to the pin correct? and another thing do i check from the obd2 plug where my vtec wires were wired in since i have the conversion harness to obd1

How long did you drive the car for before the code 22 came on? did it just happen when you did a swap?

could be a loose wiring.. check that first.. if you still cant figure out the problem then just bypass it.. its easy and alot of people do it including me. Mainly for jdm motors because they dont come with vtec pressure switches

I have the same code 22. Let me know if bypassing the vtec pressure switch makes your vtec kick in. Ive had this code for a couple months now.

do it.. it will work but first thing you need to make sure is that you have proper engine oil filled up and make sure there isnt any other problems before you go and do this..
