its a 93 civic with a b18b long block w/ a b18c1 tranny. took it for a drive and my clutch is whinning when it is engage, the noise would stop when i disengage it. the previous owner of this motor told me that it has a "gsr" heavy duty pressure plate with a brand new "ls" clutch.

was wondering if the "ls" clutch would matter in this situation. would i need a "gsr" instead or would it not matter. any help will greatly be appreciate. thanks

It shouldn't matter. It sounds like most likely your throw out bearing is failing.

Are you saying that you bought and installed the whole motor/tranny assembly without ever inspecting the clutch?

the previous owner of the motor is my cousin. he had the motor and everything installed already. did the swap into the civic but never finished it. i bought it from him and finished the swap myself. plus the clutch is brand new anyways so i didn't bother.

i'll check my throw out bearing this weekend and see if thats the culprit

any other suggestions
