Clutch Slipping
I have a 99 Civic DX. I tested the clutch today in the parking lot by putting it in 2nd gear and letting the clutch slowly out. The engine sounded like it was dying and then the car started moving forwards and I was able to drive the car starting from 2nd gear without engine dying.
Does this mean that the clutch is slipping or is the clutch still good??

The techs at the Honda shop i work next door to say if it slips in 3rd or 4th with no gas pedal added without stalling, new clutchie. You can fudge a take off in 2nd with pretty much any manual car if your smooth enough.

you will know if its slipping, here is a way to test get your car moving and then put it in 5th gear if you see the rpms shooting up then you need a new clutch, This is the way i learned to do it and others might disagree, but you should know when its slipping if you try to down shift and you just see your rpms move up you will know
how many miles are on the car, did the previous owner change the clutch or not.

Get going and at like 20mph put it in 5th so it bogs down and then mash it and see if the revs jump. If they do but the car goes nowhere you need a new clutch. Also is the trans becoming notchy at all? Or is it grinding for no reason while under load? Do these tests and get back to us
