Default Clutch question

How do you know when your clutch needs replacing? Sometimes when I depress the clutch and shift to third I hear the gear grinding but I know I pushed in the clutch enough.

You'll know when you drive and let off the gas then you'll feed engine braking that means your clutch is good.
When the RPM just drops down to idle and you drop the clutch and give it gas and no gain in speed your clutch is gone.

And for the grinding it's your transmission, your syhcro are fried....Get GM syhromesh fluid it might help..

When you gotta rev it to 5000 rpm to get it off the line its definately going. I let mine get so bad before I replaced it I was revving almost to 8k to get it to start moving. Definately the dumbest thing I have done. Cost 200$ more than it should have because I destroyed the flywheel too.

What you explained is a bad synchro and has nothing to do with the clutch.

Put your car in 3rd gear, rev ur engine to 2500rpms, and pop the clutch... Your car should jerk a little and then stall... If it does that, that means its still good...
