Default clutch problem

I have a 92 civic with a d16z6 and I had aftermarket headers on it.
The clutch would slip when ever I would accelerate and give it moke than 1/3 throttle.
I took the headers off and put the old exhause manifold/ cat on (to pass inspection). Now the clutch isn't slipping anymore and drives great, except when I try to lauch it at 4000 or so it slips a little, just enough to not spin tires

Anyone else ever have a similar experience? Advice?
Should I replace the clutch? (its a stock clutch from carquest)

You've got the MaD JdM VtAk HeAdErS that add xtreme HP to cause the clutch to slip. LOL

Get an Exedy OEM replacement set off Ebay for under $80 shipped!

buy a name brand one for normal price if you dont want to be in this situation again a few years later. I dont trust ebay exedy clutches, maybe the clutch disk is exedy but i really dont trust the pressure plates they come with.

Check the free play on your clutch pedal. I have used many different types of clutches. All kinds of brands, stages, and prices. I never had a single slippage. The free play on your clutch pedal could be miss-adjust therefore causing your clutch plate to "always" be a bit engage. This could cause problems that you are having. I can show you how to adjust it, let me know. Good luck.

odd. my oem exedy clutch all came in exedy boxes so i asume there where exedy since they where sealed.LOL i used it on my old 94civic Z6 and never had any problems with it!. worked great!
and as to changing the clutch every few years... if ya do it yourself its no big deal hell look at some race cars... they change the clutch every race for best performance.

i wish i knew how much milage is on my 96civic clutch but i guess i wont know until it starts slipping and i have to pull it.

im not saying changing the clutch is a big ordeal... however im saying quality parts usually last longer we dont drive race cars we drive civic's

personally i would rather fork out more money for a nice stage 1 from a reputable company such as centerforce, act or something along those lines. do it right the first time
