mine does that when its cold... 98 hatch, i sprayed wd40 on the pivot for the pedal and it stopped. had a little dirt on it. this may be our problem, considering your clutch is hydraulic i believe thats the only possibly problem

Would it matter at all that the car was converted from auto to manual 30k miles ago? Forgot to ad that part, i will definetly hit the pedal with some silicone lube when i get home though.

Hey bud...
Sounds like you need to replace the pedal bushings and make sure the spring is properly seated and still in good conditions.

Here are two recent thread with similar (if not the same) issue:

Just looked at the clutch petal, ill try and explain this as good as possible. Behind the pedal is a small metal rod that goes into a metal circle when you push the clutch, it seems almost like its magnetized when i push the clutch in about an inch, it comes out on its own just not as soon as you release the clutch, has like a 1 second delay, thats the best i can explain it, im about to look at those threads now, does that clarify anything to anyone as to what my problem is?

No your clutch seemed to be seriously sticking, mine is only sticking the last half inch to inch, and it unsticks on its own, its sticking in the area you were unscrewing the screw from. It seems like when i engage the clutch that screw is magnetized when it goes in that hole, but it unsticks after 1 second tops
