Default clutch mc issues

hey out there I have a jdm eg6. went to a track day and into my 3rd lap the clutch starting engaging only towards the floor.. I pulled off and ripped to pick up some brake fluid, refilled. This worked and I was able to have a very fun day. I notice though that that there is a plastic cap inside the clutch mc at the bottom of the resevoir. While it was empty the cap sat in place but now that its full the cap is floating in the fluid. What is the purpose of this cap? Am I missing something here? Also, there is excessive freeplay in the pedal, which I can't seem to eliminate. Would bleeding help this?

On a side note, I am also having fluctuating idle after the day. I assume I need to check my IACV, but can deal with this next. Damn the track is hard on your car lol!! But so worth it.

Response greatly appreciated.

Since you were running low on fluid, you might want to bleed your clutch just to make sure that there are no air bubbles stuck in the system.

The freeplay is adjustable from the screw at the clutch pedal. Usually when the clutch starts to wear out is when the freeplay of the pedal will increase.

The cap should be floating, I believe it's purpose is to seal off the line when you run out of fluid like it did in your case.

If the engagement point was changing on your clutch then either your master or slave is failing. You should change both before the car leaves you stranded. It is an easy and inexpensive fix...
