Default Clutch Interlock Bypass

2000 Civic Si

From what I've read, just connecting the two wires that lead to interlock switch should bypass it allowing me to start my car without the use of the clutch. Problem: when I did this, all I get from my car reaction wise is a click like I have a dead battery. Anyone know why or have any solution? Did I miss something in my readings? Thank you.

do you have cruies control ? if so there is 2 sensors on your clutch pedal did you get the right one and why do you want to bypass it ?

Alternative, the battery or starter is kaput.

Canadaek: It had cruise but it quite working so I pulled it all out. Yes, second switch at the very top of the clutch pedal assembly. Short story, rubber stopper wore out, needed to get going, was raining so I couldn't pop the clutch, so I cut the wires at the plug believing it was just a momentary switch and I would connect the wires and be on my way. That didn't happen.

RonJ@HT: Car was running fine with no issues and battery is relatively new.

If you are confident that the battery is fine, then remove the starter and have it tested.

RonJ@HT: Car was running fine with no issues and battery is relatively new.
shouldn't have pulled out the cruise, issue with the cruise was probably the clutch switch (switch is engaged when clutch is released). Also, check the battery voltage since a new battery doesn't mean it's necessarily charged. Batteries can lose all their charge in a matter of only 30 days.

The top switch is for the starter solenoid, so if it was removed, then that would explain the problem. However, the OP mentioned hearing a click when the key is turned to ON(III), so I would assume the switch is fine as this sound generally means the switch worked and the solenoid received voltage.

well that cruise things was a separate, irrelevant thought, just had to point out that instead of removing the cruise, he should have diagnosed it.

RonJ@HT: I'll pull the starter and have it tested. I was able to get the switch out yesterday and hooked the wires back up to it. While the switch was in my hand I held down the button and attempted to start the car, same reaction, just a click.

Sure thing Ron, though it may or may not help others.

Ended up doing two things at once, so not sure which was the correct fix, though I have a feeling it was the second thing. First thing was to connect the the blue and black wire in a loop and then also connect the pink and black wire in a loop. Didn't think the pink and black wire went along with it since it was my understanding it was just for the cruise/stop switch. Second thing I did was reattach my power cable to the positive battery. I run Avid mounts and have a good deal of audio, so there is a lot of vibration within my car. It only happened one other time and it was some time ago ( which is why I didn't think of it ) but it vibrated just enough to have a bad contact to start the car. It should have dawned on me when you mentioned the battery in your first reply. Thanks for the help.
