Very important.

Well...if your car was running fine before, the plugs and fuel delivery probably aren't the issue. You took off the trans. There's a lot of plugs and wires that you could have switched around or left unplugged.

The trans to chassis ground is VERY important. Then there's the starter wiring itself.

Besides that...more info would help...

Check the blade connector to the starter.

does it crank or does nothing happen? if it's nothing, you probably forgot to attach the trans ground...it won't do anything without it. if the ground is there and everything is plugged in, smack at the starter a few times and try to start it again...if nothing again, rinse and repeat (obviously no "rinsing involved). if it finally starts that way, the starter is bad.

if it cranks, not sure what you did...especially if it has fuel/spark.
