All Motor EH2

I have a stock 92 vx hatch, it has 173,xxx miles on the odometer. Today I pulled into a parking lot and when I was turning in I let off the clutch, It made a really bad grinding sound, kinda sounded like something was rubbing against the car.

It only makes the sound when the RPMS are up and the clutch is NOT pressed in. I believe it's probably the throwout bearing. As I was driving home I shifted the car into 2nd and it popped out of the gear into neutral all by itself( I know it was a dumb idea to drive it home but I really can't afford a tow truck right now.) My clutch catches but it slips horribly.

I'm guessing it would most likely be in my best interest to just purchase a new clutch. If anyone knows a good place to get a clutch for my stock civic, please let me know. I don't need anything special as long as it's gonna last me at least another few months til I can get a swap.

Buy an Exedy stock replac`ement clutch and have a local shop drop it on for you. You can find them on ebay for $100 for the stage 1's and then couple hours of labor at a trann shop. So about $250 you'll be rolling again.

Is installing a clutch extremely difficult? I would really rather do it myself with the help of a couple friends or something. Not just to save money, but as a learning experience really.

not difficult at all if you have the right tools. You'll need a couple of 12 pt. sockets. I think an 8mm and an 18. Not quite sure on that though. Do some searching around on here.
Other than that, once you get the flywheel out you'll want to have a shop resurface it judging by how you explained your current clutch situation.

Go for it why pay someone 150$ when you can do it for free. I did mine in a friends garage. In an out with floor jacks. Its not that hard just nuts and bolts

it isn't very hard to change out a clutch. if your car is popping out of gear you might be low on tranny fluid.

i picked up a clucth off craigslist i think theres another one for sale on there

if your car is popping out of gear, then it is most likely the tranny(fluid) If you cannot get it into gear or out, then look at your clutch.

if u know what your doing. why not pay the 150.00 and get it installed by a professional and get it done right. if it messed up or just something is not working just working properly take it back. $250.00 is not think of it as an investment and it will lower your times! Also its all about warranty! ask your self this do your friend have warranty?
