Default Clutch diagnosis needed...

You guys have helped me a bunch before so I hope this one is easy...I did a search but I didn't see anything relevant.

Subject: 92 VX, 5sp, 136k on body.

Problem: Last week my clutch pedal felt fine. I'd step down on it and could feel the clutch engage right away. Well, last week I parked and the next morning my pedal sunk to the floor when I pushed down. I should mention it springs right back up to the top when released, just the point at which the clutch engages is a lot lower. It seems to stay close to the floor when it's colder out (about 2 inches off the floor), but in the afternoons occasionally it will come up almost back to normal. Whatever the case, it's pretty annoying.

So what gives....is my pressure plate starting to go, or is the clutch pedal just in need of adjustment?

Sounds more like a new master/slave cylinder. It's about the right year. Do both and save some time bleeding the system.

X2

It's a quick bleed. Save yourself some time and do that first.

I'm beginning to see this as I search the web for clues....thanks guys. Do I need to just bleed the clutch cylinder, or is it more of a replacement issue?

carpet was dry....interesting. I must have just barely got by with enough fluid to keep me going until now. Bought some brake fluid, filled it up, pumped the clutch a dozen times, and it's back to normal. Nice $2 fix.

I'm in debt once again to HT...thanks fellas
