If it's charged correctly, installed correctly and aligned correctly you should be able to wail on it right out of the chute. There are people from another camp who will say, "CRIST NO! You simply MUST break it in for 500 miles!"

Bullshit. I mean, try not to drop it from 7000 rpms and don't do anything with it that you wouldn't normally do, but it's a clutch (otherwise known as a textured disk connected to a rod that spins) not a glass figurine. If it was installed correctly you can go for it.

I completely agree that there is nothing wrong with not flogging the hell out of it for 500 miles. I don't agree, though, that you're going to do damage to a properly installed clutch by getting on it before some magical mileage number.

In my experience, all aftermarket clutches (except B19CivicHB's) get comfy after 800-1000 miles, whether you baby them or flog the ballz off em

you should break it in. The clutch disc can glaze which would make it slip much easier.

I tried to hold out for the 500 mile break in, but only made it 350. Once I started getting on it the clutch actually felt better. Next time I bet I only wait no more than a 100 miles if that. I'm somewhat of a believer in the saying "it will drive like you break it in". Just my opinion.

well I did a 500mile break in on mine.. and when I asked Alex at action clutches .. when I picked it up from him I got the STAGE 1 KS which is a kevlar Disc .. .. he even informed me to make sure to break the clutch in.. but I wonder if different material requires different break in period or none at all..and I believe a Iron disc such as the one that Action sales for the Pro turbo model does not need a break in since it does not use a Organic or kevlar material , remember not all clutches use the same material.. it's just like brakes or tires.. some need a different break in than others to be usued properly...simliar to beading in brake pads or putting a tire thru a heat cycle such as some AUTOX tires and such

500 miles sounds about good. it says with the booklets that came with the clutch. regular driving for about 500, to let it properly seat. 500 for a clutch and install? pretty good deal. labor for most shops would be about 200, and depending what car, an act clutch with hd pp and ss disc would run from 250-400.
