clutch break in?
what is the proper way to break in a clutch and for how long? are there any types of clutches that dont need breaking in or do all types need to be broken in. also, if two engines are stock but one car has a stiffer clutch... does that make it have more power to the ground and should technically win in 1/4? sorry for the noob qiestions. thanks for the help

Re: clutch break in? (tyflip2)
Proper break in basically laps the surfaces so they are smooth and makes full contact, not just some high spots. This is done by slipping the clutch under low load conditions. There are no RPM restrictions or mileage requirements really. 500 miles is a good rule of thumb but if you are slipping it a lot in traffic for 30 miles it may break it in faster than if you spend 2000 miles on the highway. If you do not allow the clutch to lap in before racing on it you may lose some clutch life, but the clutch generally won't blow as a result. The main idea is to lap in the clutch without overheating it.
