which clutch act or exedy
Hey I have a quick question or two. I am about to build a d16y8 with custom turbo pushing 6 psi. It will be in either a eg or ek hatch. My question is which clutch to use. ACT because in my opinion it is the best but you pay for the best. Or exedy cheap and aftermarket decent clutch. I think they exedy would be fine for an all motor setup but not for turbo am I right? I know people will say act just making sure though. I have had an act in my crx and I didnt pay much for it because they were cheaper 4 years ago. Also do I need a lightened flywheel?

I run a modified v of the same block with a decent torque increase. What is keeping you from going with Clutch Master? I suggest the stage 3 for your car if you are planning to daily drive it but also want it to hook up, which won't necessarily be a huge problem anyway as long as you have decent raps on the wheels. ACT has caused me nothing but trouble in the not so distant past... consistantly. With that said, of the two you've mentioned... I guess Exedy would be my preference. Good Luck

i have no direct experience with any of these clutches but i read alot...
the exedy is completely SHAT on basically by everyone who has it in the itr forum, i have heard of problems with the act too, i will most likely be going with a clutchmaster stage 3 as well.

I don't have any experiences with exedy clutches but I have the act hdss clutch for about over a year now and no problems yet. 10k miles with weekend canyon/mtn runs

i just installed the exedy in my d16a6 and i love it, after break in it jus grabs and grabs all day long, no problems yet and hopefully none to come

i run an ACT HDSS in my boosted Y8. Grabs HARD but is as soft as the stock clutch. Well, slightly stiffer, but it definitely won't wear out your leg in stop-and-go traffic. Easy to slip off the line, too. i recommend it.
