Default Cluster swap

I'm going to be replacing my current cluster with one with a tachogauge on it, and I'm just wondering if there are any extra wiring that needs to be done to get it working? I know when you do like a external tachogauge you have to splice

If you're installing an OEM tach into a 92-00 Civic, it's PLUG and PLAY.

Would newer ones fit? Such as 2006 into a 2000?

I knew I wasn't specific enough.

Tachometers from 92-95 with other 92-95 models only.

Tachometers from 96-00 with other 96-00 models only.

Those are the only combinations I know of that are plug and play.
