Default cluster lights don't work

okay everything on my 96 LX cluster works except the lighting to see everything on the cluster when its dark. It might be the bulb, but also when i leave my lights on and i open the door it doesn't make that usual annoying sound to remind it to turn off the lights. are these two things connected?? my climate control also doesn't light up.

thanks

That be great if that turned out to be it. Have you also checked the appropriate fuses?

yeah i checked those it doesn't work if i turn it all way to the right or left... i think im going to replace the bulbs for the lighting and see from there if they work then its the bulb if they don't then some wiring gone bad.

Does your climate control light up? If not, your dimmer switch is toast.

It's either going to be your dimmer switch or a fuse.

okay i haven't checked the fuses yet, but im pretty sure its my dimmer switch because someone said that if your climate control doesn't light up either my dimmer switch is toast.

i was wondering how would you take the dimmer switch out? do you take out the cluster, then pop out the dimmer switch from the inside? also the wiring of the dimmer switch is pretty much easy right?

btw thanks alot guys for the help!!

most of the time is the fuses, specially when they put the wrong size into that slot, check the fuses first and if not that, it might be the dimmer..

best way to do it is get a light tester...and just hook to something grounded and turn the switch all the way without turning the car on, and put the point in the top metal piece of the fuses...or its easier if you have the fuse box cover which tells you which fuses are which..
