Default Cluster illumination not working.

Ever since I got my 99 dx I've had the issue of the cluster not having the back illumination, all the dummy icons light up and gauges work. Just not the back light since I've owned it I've only done 2 things to it... a Si cluster so I had a tach and an alpine head unit. The problem happened after the head unit lol I was just learning cars at the time. Is there a fuse for the back light feature ? yes I've tried playing with the little switch it's turned on. not the cluster either(got the Si one a few months ago) it makes it hard to drive at night I have a gps for a spedo but for the rest it's a pain. I've got some free time so may as well go at it

thx

One of the wires is shorting out on the metal frame where you installed the head unit. This exact same thing happened to me, I pulled the head unit out and the insulation had rubbed off one of the unused wires and was touching the frame. Make sure there is no exposed wiring and you should be golden.

This is what I've been thinking I can't remember when we installed it if we properly wrapped every wire tight(3 years ago). Just a pita removing the thing or at least I remember it being lol. thx will check out

success ! thank you both, there were a few wires that the electrical tape had fallen off of or maybe we never covered them back in the day lol.
