Default clunking noise from rear

after installing my h&r race springs on my illuminas (EK), there is a clunking sound from the rear when hitting a sharp bump. the nut on top of the strut assembly is tight. everything else was bolted down to proper torque specs. i have clearance for my rear sway bar and exhasut. i dont know what could be causing it.

did you cut your stock bumpstops? there should be instructions on it from your new springs.

bumpstops are cut to 1" on all corners. i also dont think its the sway bar. not really sure. maybe coils hitting each other?

yeah it could just be the coils rubbing when they are compressed.

there is a product out there (i dont know what it's called) but it's like a plastic strip that you wrap around the coils so when they rub it's plastic on plastic.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by deviant1 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">bumpstops are cut to 1" on all corners. i also dont think its the sway bar. not really sure. maybe coils hitting each other?</TD></TR></TABLE>

coils hitting each other = coil bind = not good

i don't think H&R would produce a spring that this happened too. most of the time this happens with heated or cut springs

check to make sure you have the top rubber gasket on (the one that goes on top of the spring)

make sure your "top hat mount" is actually sitting snug on the spring
