I have a 01 CRV with 180k miles that started making a clunking noise up front after a right hand turn into a parking spot. Never had a problem before and had the transmission fluid changed about 20K ago. The repair shop says it needs a new transmission even though I drove it home and to the repair shop without any problems shifting. He said that the trans fluid was dark and smelled burnt. Any idea if he has the right problem and what may have caused this?
