Default Clogged Cat?

My car seems to be overheating latley and I think its because my cat is clogged? It seems that my downpipe(?) turns red when the temp gauge is pretty high up there. Could these high temps be a result of a clogged cat?
Thanks

:sigh:

1.) what kind of a car do you have?

2.) what kind of an engine do you have?

3.) what kind of upgrades does that engine have?

4.) when did the problem begin?

5.) when was the last time you changed your water pump?

6.) how about your headgasket and/or radiator?

7.) do you know what a thermostat is?

8.) what the flying expletive makes you think overheating has anything to do with the catylitic converter?

9.) if your exhaust parts are glowing red, that's more of a fuel concern than a problem with overheating.

10.) I hate you.

1.) what kind of a car do you have?
95 civic ex
2.) what kind of an engine do you have?
-d16z6
3.) what kind of upgrades does that engine have?
-CAI Intake, Exhaust
4.) when did the problem begin?
-A couple of months ago but now the temp gauge seems to be rising more now, i dont know if it is because its hotter out now?
5.) when was the last time you changed your water pump?
-Never
6.) how about your headgasket and/or radiator?
-Nope
7.) do you know what a thermostat is?
-No sir
8.) what the flying expletive makes you think overheating has anything to do with the catylitic converter? B
-Because reading up on this forum, a few people said that there downpipe was turning red, and it was because the cat was clogged. So I would imagine that where the engine seeems to be the hottest ( downpiple) since its smoking and turning red, could be causing the high temps, which would be caused by the clogged cat? I am not really sure though.?
9.) if your exhaust parts are glowing red, that's more of a fuel concern than a problem with overheating.
-Hmmmm????????

and yes my fan works.

If you can go past 3500 rpm or so it's not a clogged cat.

if you think its clogged take it off look at it , this should take 10 minutes or 10 hours depending on your rust situation

man check your exhaust flow out of your muffler, is it less than usual? Just b/c the cat is turning red isnt a sign of it clogging, and just because the cat is that hot, it doesnt neccesarily make your engine that hot too!

True statement... especially if don't have access to a lift. My first cat change took me 11 hours total. Spray PB blast, watch TV, try to unbolt and..... repeat.

loss of power
no vtec engagement
5000 rev limiter
barely any exhaust exit while revving
constant psshhhhhhhh sound
& last but not least white film on the inside of the oil cap
