Clockspring question
had no search results for this. long story short replaced my ignition switch and had to pull steering wheel off to get to those damn "break to torque" bolts. when i did i decided to pull the wheel off without a puller and just muscled it off and the clockspring came out and now needs replacing due to it coming out and unwinding. can someone please tell me why it unwinding caused my srs light to come on. no wires were hurt in doing these things.

clock spring is that ribbon like thing behind ur steering wheel that gives ur airbag power and ground. what did u do to remove your ignition switch? didnt u have those headless bolts to remove? i had to dremel a slot in them and use a flat head to get them out! couldnt fit it in there without removing the steering wheel =*(

Broke connection - the clockspring is the power/grnd to your airbag, with a break in that circuit the SRS light will come on as the ECU knows that the airbag will no longer function.
