Clinking sound from suspension
"1998 civic dx hatchback which is lowered etc. - when he turns right in a corner a clinking "tinny" sound comes from the front left wheel area."
Help for a friend. Quote from his email. What could it be?
TIA

Re: Clinking sound from suspension (GoLowDrew)
my guess would be a broken cv joint. jack the car up, remove the wheel and look behind the rotor. 1.) there should be grease every where. 2.) you should see the axle boot broken. not all the time the boot needs to be broken though, but usually it's the symptom. just change your axle and you will be fine.
here is a thread on how to do this:

this is for a b-series^^^, but it's the same process on the d-series engine as well.

Yes, I agree. It sounds like a CV joint...
However I do not agree that you need to jack the car up and remove the wheel to inspect this. Park it on level ground, turn wheels as far left as possible... at that point you should be able to see the boot. Grab a flash light and inspect it CAREFULLY... see if it is ripped/torn or damaged in anyway... also check for grease outside the boot and possibly on suspection and/or brake components...
if you find that greese outside the boot or if the boot is badly damaged then I'd suspect the CV joint to be your problem!
