Default Climate controls do not work.

Hi, I just installed a new aftermarket radio into my 1997 Honda civic coupe dx car. It already had one in there before but i didnt like it so i got a new one. I hooked everything up wire for wire and the stereo works great. But now none of my climate controls work at all. I cant even turn on the ac or anything. what could be my problem?

Thanks Josh

Since you just installed a new stereo right above the climate controls, I would first check to see if you knocked a plug loose on the controls which can very easily be done when you stuff all the wires back into the slot. If everything worked before the stereo install, I can't really see it being anything else at this point. It would be a remarkable coincidence if your blower fan died or the fuse blew at the same time. Assuming you still have stock climate controls for the 97 (I put 99/2000 controls in my 97 hatch years ago) do the lights come on above each vent setting button when you press them?

If the plugs are secure, make sure it wasn't just a wire knocked out of the harness.

I'd start with the heater/ ac relay 7.5amp under the dash first. But like I said, it would be quite the coincidence if the fuse for the climate controls blew at the same time you installed a stereo but stranger things have happened.

I went ahaed and just checked all fuses and all are good. The lights where you can chamge between hot and cold work but there are no lights on the buttons and the blower motor switch does nothing as well.

I bet while taking the lower console out (if you did) you forgot to plug a harness in.
check a 3rd time
take it all apart and do it again
