If it's at all like the climate control in my '98 EX, the lights in there seem to be very picky about when they will light. the wiring has to be just right or they'll cut out. This isn't the only '96-'98 Civic climate control I've seen exactly like this.

its a 93 civic si hatch and not dimmer is all the way up and gauges do work.. on the gray dash panel the only lights that work is the cruise control button and all the buttons on the heater control light up.. also drivers side blinker need to "warm up" before it works.. sunroof button no light, dimmer no light, rear defrost no light, climate control no light.. hope this helps

Are all of those even supposed to light? I know my 6G moonroof button doesn't light, nor does the one on my '88 Prelude (oops, checked the Prelude again - they work, forgot I fixed all those lights lol). Lots of switches in the Prelude in particular don't light up. There's no place to even have a bulb.

i know i had this problem and i ended up splicing new LED's in place of the old bulbs and sockets and they worked every since. maybe poor connections in the bulb sockets.

my 97 doesn't work either. Sometimes you can hit the dash and they will light up but I firmly believe it's a short because it's intermittent that it either it works or it doesn't. I think this is a fairly common problem for the 96-98's, maybe even 92-95 as well.

Re: Climate Control Lights?????
only thing you can do.. check fuses
check that the main light switch is working and making good connection.
then check that the dimmer switch is plugged in and making good connection.
then check the connections at the bulbs/units
then check the wiring
if you've gone from here to here to here and back probed everything to check power at every step.. you HAVE to find the problem. i wouldn't bother checking the bulbs cause the likely hood of them all blowing at once is purty ****ing slim
that is a bad connection, not a short. check any type of connection. there be the problem.

Re: Climate Control Lights?????
I have a '90 Civic LX Sedan and my climate control lights have the same issue. None of them worked but I tapped on it several times and both the upper and lower parts started working. After a week or so the top part stopped working and hasn't come on since, no matter how many times I hit it. The bottom part has stayed on though...

Re: Climate Control Lights?????
I have this same problem in my '93 hatch. I've even replaced the climate control and they still don't light up. I completely disassembled the climate control thinking one of the wires was disconnected or something and they were fine. I know of several others that live around me that have the same problem too...

Re: Climate Control Lights?????
start with the tracer-board on the back of the climate control, see if the bulb holder is even making contact with the board, or if its corroded. next check for voltage with the lights on, after that if there isn't voltage, unplug the harness and check for voltage there. if there still isn't voltage, there is a break in the wire somewhere. maybe someone spliced into the wire before to light up aftermarket gauges, and the connection corroded or something? just something to think about.
