cleaning my headlights.....
i was gonna use the toothpaste method but then i realized that there was something like a protective plastic layer, so now does that mean i have to use the sandpaper method?

Use buffing compound, tape off around the headlight with blue painters tape, and get an electric buffer. That will do that trick, that's the only way I got my "film" off.

i think you should wet sand it first with 1500 or 2000 grit, then buff it out.. you will see much better results

I ended with a 2500 grit. Then used Plastic x after the wet sanding.

I did 1500 then 2000 grit + M.plast x
I buffed by hand, cuz I don't have a buffer, but it looks great. I had some film before hand also. You have to spend a good 10-15 minutes sanding to get it off.

I know that using a 1200 to a 3000 grit sand paper and then clear coating the headlights after that work really well. In fact I have seen three different people use this method on there headlights and they turn out better than NEW. No joke now 3000 grit is hard to come by but if you can find it go with that and if there is a buffing compond in the sandpaper alng with a foam back then you should have no scratches in the lens. But this takes time and being careful. Just thought I would lend my knowledge.
