Default cleaning engine bay?

Yes, I know there is a link in the FAQ but the pics no longer work and the link provided doesn't either.

So what do you guys use to clean up your engine bays? Not necessarily just the engine but the paint inside the bay as well.

The GUNK degreaser worked well on my engine and transmission, but it said not to get it on painted surfaces so I didn't really try it on the radiator support or anything.

Yeah I've heard about that. Is it safe to use on the painted surfaces in there as well?

It's a household cleaner, yes it's safe for pretty much everything.

Yeah fine on my paint. You are suppose to mix it like 10:1 I think. I usually hit it up full strength though.

Never had a problem with simple green leaving a residue. Then again I spray it off with a pressure washer too.
