Cleaned IACV yesterday, now Speedo doesn't work? Cel 17
Hey guys. While I was at work yesterday and I had the free time, I decided to pull my iacv off to clean it. Of course when pulling the coolant lines off of it, some got spilled. I cleaned it, put it all back together, and when I left work, my speedo didn't work. It came on briefly for a few seconds, then died again.
Here's some other information: after that, I noticed the car had trouble starting. It would turn over just fine but wasn't getting something. It turned out to be a broken ground on the thermostat housing which I will be fixing with new ring terminals and whatnot.
When I start the car, the CEL comes on and then goes off as if all is normal. After driving for a few minutes, I get a CEL and it reads code 17 which is for the VSS. I took a multimeter to the VSS plug and here are my readings:
Ylw/blu wire: 12.4 volts
ylw/wht wire: 5.0 volts
I'm thinking that this will be a ground issue, and I'm wondering if the problem is with the ground for the speedo. Does anyone know if the ground for the speedo is one of the 4 wires on the thermostat ground?
Car is a 95 civic ex sedan, d16z6 manual transmission no conversion.
Mods AEM dri-flo short ram intake, skunk2 intake manifold, stock throttle body, stock sensors.
ECU is a p28 auto converted to manual.
Onluy CEL is for the code 17 (VSS).

Well, I pulled the vss yesterday to clean it. Cleaned it and the only change was a bad one.
After cleaning it, the car went into limp mode. Would not go above 3500 rpm in any gear. Speedo would also jump sporadically when I gave it more throttle. Pulled the codes when I parked it.
Codes 10,16,17, and 41. O2 sensor heater, iat sensor, fuel injectors, and vss.
I then cut all 4 wires that attach to the ring terminal on the thermostat and crimped new ring terminals to it. All problems solved.
