Default Cleaned the engine bay, now car running poorly.

I read up on the thread to clean the engine bay and motor w/ degreaser. So i covered all the necessary parts, intake, distributer, alternator, fusebox, etc. Degreased the engine, sprayed it down w/ water. Go to drive it away, and the car wants to shut off. The car is now idling fine, but when i go do drive off, I car hisitates like crazy in the lower RPMs. I checked the distributer and plugs, but no water. Im hoping any water didnt get into the intake. If anyone could shoot some ideas at me, I'd appreciate it.

Edit: Sprayed out some water out of the sparkplug area and beat on the car a little bit. It came back to life.

Next time, just use a can of engine clean and a used toothbrush. i don't rinse at all to avoid this problem.

orly... I detailed mine last night and I'm having the exact same problem. Done it dozens of times before, and it's never done this.

DAMN YOU H-T GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!

Have to check under plug cover when I get back to the car.

blk92_d16, you seriously use a toothbrush? I used to do it that way until I got tired of it taking 3 hours everytime I wanted to clean my engine.

Holy crap, my car is STILL running like ***... and this swap was running great for the last 2 weeks since I put it in.

What could I have gotten water into that I shouldn't have? It seems to run fine below about 15% throttle. Above that, it bucks and kicks. Sometimes it'll smooth out for a second, but then starts again.

I would say that it's definitely dependent on the throttle, but it's also idling rough and low sometimes... under 500 rpm. Acts like it wants to stall, then kicks back up to 800 steady and will smooth out.

I found and cleaned out some water from the IAT plug, but everything else looks okay. Checked injector plugs, under dizzy cap, under plug cover, can't find any more water. Any ideas?

Well, I learned something today. Apparently the B-series sparkplug cover is cosmetic only, and does absolutely nothing to keep water from the plugwells.

I vacuumed water from the plugwells and wires and put in new plugs. Runs like a champ now.
