civic won't start untill press the gas
Hi guys, I'm working on a friend b16 civic, when the car is cold you need to touch the gas pedal to start it, once it start you can shut it off and it start right away without touch the pedal. The problem is only when the car is completely cold.
No CEL.
He changed before ask me to help:
1-TPS
2-MAP
3-Fuel pump Walbro 190lph
4-wires,plugs,rotor and cap.
I put my civic Fuel pressure gauge and it's in 42psi. This is to much pressure for stock b16 wit I,H,E.
P28 chipped with crome p30 stock map. civic 94ex.

Yes I check the TPS and it's .49 and 4.5
As for the tps yes, it does before the new one.
The tip in on the tune or any advance tables setting was touched.

No, but tomorrow I can put mine burn a new chip and check.
Also I was looking through old threads and read that by pressing the gas during start up you create a non fire injector phase and if the car start can be a overly rich situation.
42 psi it's with the vacuum hose connected and the car at idle. I forget completely check the pressure without vacuum hose.

ok, so I put my ECU and new chip the car do the same.
Don't press the gas so it no start. With the engine cold I put a know good ECT and the car start in the second try without touch the gas. I will let it sit a few hours and try again when is completely cold.

Redamzcy, Please remove this photo you posted I can't see it, and my computer it's giving me a alert on infected URL.
Triplelude, The IACV was cleaned but I going to put mine for test.
As far for the FITV it have a block off plate.
Finding a P30 obd1 ECU in P.R. it's like looking for gold and the persons who have one don't sell it or borrow it no matter they don't use it.
We going to try and find one on ebay.

I think you should at least try removing the FITV block off plate for diagnostic purposes.
If it is starved for air you can calibrate the throttle stop screw to get it to start even with the FITV block off plate. Part of the reason there is a FITV is to aid in cold startup by allowing air to pass when the coolant is cold. If the test works, just open the throttle stop position up a tad bit and re-adjust the idle set screw to work together. Bam, keep your FITV block off and have cold startups.
(I like having a FITV, it keeps the oil pressure healthy when the engine temp is too low)
