Civic VX Radio Harness
Forgive my laziness because I haven't actually had the time to take a look. I have four cars to maintain.
I have a 1992 Civic VX without a radio or speakers. It currently has the factory radio block off plate. The previous owner never put a radio or speakers in there.
Is the Civic VX already prewired for speakers to the front doors and head unit? Is there existing wires there that will make the install easy or do I have to run all new wires?
Thanks in advance!

Wow. What a rarity! I'm guessing there are only a handful of vehicles like these left that never had a radio installed at some point.
Your answers:
1. Yes, head unit is pre-wired behind the dash. (So is the clock, incidentally, which you also probably don't have).
2. Door speakers are also pre-wired.
3. You will also need to add an aerial if you want to listen to the radio.
These parts will all still have the OEM connectors, which most people just cut and splice, but I don't recommend this, only because you shouldn't cut wiring if you don't have to. It's a lot easier, cleaner, and faster, and probably more reliable to use these adapters instead, when installing aftermarket audio:

I wish everyone had that mentality. Pisses me off to open a door panel up to find someone had cut off the connectors and used either wirenuts or some other mechanical fastener other than solder. Incidently if you do have factory speakers you can always unsolder the honda connector from them if you're getting rid of them and solder on your own spade lugs.

Re: Civic VX Radio Harness
I replaced my whole dash harness recently just so I could get the OEM head unit connector back (found an intact, uncut one at the junkyard). The original one on my vehicle was hacked to bits.
PS. People buy that factory block-off plate, and pay actual money for it ... ie., more than the $2 you probably think it's worth!

Thats one of the things that makes buying a used honda so hard. Most have been hacked and chopped by Mickey Mouse backyard mechanics.

Re: Civic VX Radio Harness
I have seen plenty of hack jobs in searching for my second EG hatch.
Makes me laugh at these hackers for trying to pass off a horrible car for a nice one.
Before i scored my hatch i would take a long hard look at the cars, find some hacked wiring and tell the guy sorry, this isnt it.
Then you hear the classic line.. what would you offer me, id reply im not interested in offering anything.
Leaves them wondering. LOL
Never hack wires to install something.
There is always a harness for everything.
The examples above are the best way to go.
Nice to hear about a unhacked vx

This is my second eg hatch in my lifetime. Both have been unhacked and clean. Takes forever to find them. My last eg hatch was an SI, original clean paint (no fading), no accidents, low mileage, and clean title.
My VX now is the same thing. I bought it with 123K miles, clean title, no accidents, clean car fax, and all original. It's just missing some pieces (rear emblem, cargo cover, 2 front VX wheels). I use it as my commuter car, it's pretty amazing I get 47mpg mixed without even trying.

Re: Civic VX Radio Harness
LOL. Too far for me to pick up, that will be the most expensive set of VX wheels in the world.
I found a set in Vegas. $285 shipped for all 4 with center caps.
