Default civic swap, what would be better, want to boost 5 psi h22a4 or g23

hey whats up, i just snapped my timing belt on my h22a4 so i went and bought a new head but now i am kinda waiting to see what i should build. i have a full turbo kit for my h22a4 but i was thinken about doing a g23 build instead, for those of you who never heard of this it is a f23 block with a h22 head, this making it a g23 vtec. well i was gonna run 5 psi on the full h but now i see that people are running like 12-15 on the f23 block. just looking for feedback

Personally man, I dislike combonation motors. Mini-me's, LS/VTEC etc never end up as reliable motors unless fully fully built. I would keep he a4 and strap on the turbo. You could probably boost a little more than 5 too if you'd like, especially if its well tuned.

Keep the H22..they are badass with a turbo,I had a turbo euro r H22a4 in my Ek4 4door with the b16 tranny,I sold it to my buddy who helped build it and hes making somewhere around 320hp now and cant keep tires on it.

It sounds like you have a full h22 swap so go for the turbo,I dont believe in changing up motors like that either.

yes but the f23 is iron sleeved and close decked as the h22a4 is open deck making it hondas weekest block. the f23 will hold seious boost w/ stock internals.
and combination engines are reliable if built right, my ls vtec was reliable and i beat the crap out of that thing

Id have to disagree they can be VERY reliable if its build right with the right hardware and does not have to be "fully" built at all i have seen many ls/vtec set ups lasting for years as long its build right and maintained right ... and for the psi it really does not mean anything its more on the size of the turbo ALSO on the TUNE most important of all

Why is the magic number of boost on a stock h22 for everybody 5psi?!?

I have been over 10psi for 3 years and its still perfect... get a good tune.

yeahut what h22 do u have. i am sure its not a h22a4 and definitly not a sh engine like mine, if u are running the h22a1 or jdm h22a then you have a closed deck, the a4 is open deck and there is no h22 block that will hold 15 psi on stock internals. i know i will lose power from the engine due to low compression but i will make up for it with the 15 psi. the f/h combo makes like 155-160 hp as to the h22 makes like 185-190 but the extra 10 pounds of boost should make up for all that. i am going to do the h/f combo due to a small crack i found in my block. then i will build the f and run like 25 psi
