There was just a topic similar to this the other day but I wasn't sure if I understood what I was reading. They were saying that the conversion for OEM disc brakes from a 6th gen Si onto an 6th gen EX only costs $400. What's the deal here? Is it really that cheap?!

you can use the trailing arms from a 5th gen civic si/del sol vtec with the stock lower control arms....i dunno about the front though...but since u can use the 5th parts...they r pretty common and cheap.

If you are talking about front brakes, 6th gen EX and Si are the same.

If you are talking about rear, like JDM says, the parts are common. I got mine from a 94 Integra

Can you use Integra parts on a 6th gen? I'd like to get rear discs for my hatch, but was under the impression that I could only use SI discs. If I can use Integra parts, will that affect the rear suspension (ie. shock mounting points, swaybar links)? Thanks for the info...

Si parts will swap over perfect, just make sure you get the parking brake cables, t/a, etc. you shouldn't spend more than $350 for those, and at that price they may or may not come with pads and rotors. you'll probably want new pads/rotors and stainless lines, fluid, which will run you another $200 +/-. the swap itself is pretty straight forward with the right tools.

if you go with integra parts, you'll hae to mix match t/a, parking brake cable. talk to someone who's done the exact swap (into 6thgen hatch) if you're gonna use anything other than si parts.

it's been said before, but for the money you're about to spend, you could get a big brake upgrade in the front and probably get better overall stopping power (especially if you have 16inch+ rims). i just hated the way drums look, plus you can't buy 'high performance drums' i don't think.

I got my rear discs off a '94 Integra. The parking brake cables appeared to be too short at first, but there's enough adjustability in the stock EK handbrake "load leveler" thing to take up the slack. Beyond that, it's a bolt-up affair.

Sooo $400-$500 is about how much to expect to spend?
(I'm a poor college kid with an extremely tight budget)

That's way too much. I wouldn't pay over $250 for a set of rear discs. And that's including the entire trailing arm assemblies & LCA's.

is that local? The calipers alnone are 100 bucks a piece. You must have some good yards there. You should look into putting a package together and selling it. I wouls give you 300 if you could get the LCAs Calipers Rotors and E brake cables.
