Default Civic Si, with a b16, having vtec problems

I have a Civic Si with a b16 with a Type-R ECU. Sometimes my vtec doesn't kick in, but sometimes it does. What do you guys think the problem is? Please help...

I did let it warm up. After I drive it and test it out the vtec would work fine. But after driving for awhile it would stop working again.
