Default Civic SI 2002 POWER & the AC

I've got about 3500 miles on my SI & the only real complaint I have is that to accelerate smoothly & quickly I must turn off the AC manually, maybe that's why the button is so close to the shifter. The AC really pulls on the motor if I don't turn off the AC. I don't know if this is normal, dealer sez it is, Honda customer service rep suggests turning AC off while accelerating...... I thought most cars of today turned the AC off automatically on engine demand???????????????????? To others, the car revs so easily that you really need to watch the tach, when the over rev limiter starts doing it's thing it sends you instant feedback in the form of a little bucking bronco...... I'm staying awake now! It's not fun to do with friends in the car............................. I'd really like to hear from 2002 SI owners
