Default Civic Questions

I have a 96 civic ex that a 1.6l w/vtec. I wondering what type of engine (d16 or what ever) I have and also where I should start for getting more horsepower out of my engine. I have a header and short ram intake. I'm looking into buying a intake manifold with AEM fuel rail and perforamce injuectors. What else would I need for fuel system. Any suggestions on brands or parts.

Which is better a short ram intake or cold air intake?

I am open for suggestions. I have never built a tuner before, only old schools so I don't know to much about this subject.

Don't **** your money down the drain like that, if you are going to do anything to it, turbo it. I/H/E are going to do **** to that motor. Wasting that kind of money on fuel system parts are just going to do waste gas. Use that money and get a turbo, or a new motor.

You have a d16y8
You do not need a fuel rail or injectors - you will not get any power out of either (stock rail is good to over 400hp). The best thing you could do at this point is exhuast or a cam. If you want to ditch the intake and header you just shelled out for, piece together/buy a turbo kit or swap in a different larger engine.

Unfornutely bolt-ons really don't do much on that motor. I had I/E on my D16Y8 and it wasn't a huge difference. You could also try swapping out the final drive for shorter gearing and get a lightened flywheel. Those would also help with acceleration as the EX has tall gearing.
