Civic performance chip Good or Bad ?

I have been lookin at these chips on ebay and i was wondering if they are legit ? Do they real do what they say ? 7 - 20 hp increase for 40.00 dollars *wow*. Is it worth it to buy one ? What kinda history do some of you have with them ? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

Few links on ebay with the p-chip :

Basically they give you a resistor that you use to fool the ECU into thinking that the air coming into the engine is colder then what it really is thus advancing timing.

Waste of money IMO. It might do more harm to you're motor then good.

i am going to do the mini me conversion real soon. How much Hp do you think i would have with a d16 head on a d15 block with H/E/I, ngk plugs ?

ng 12-26-2003 10:40 PM

I have one. It made my car miss in the low gears but I could definately feel more power. If you get it make sure you have upgraded spark plugs and wires.

In general, leaning out the fuel/oxygen ratio will cause a power loss, but fuel economy gain, conversely richening the mix will cause a slight (usually less than 1/2 mpg) reduction in fuel economy, but an increase in power. </TD></TR></TABLE>

that statement sorta makes me think those things are B.S....

It's a waste of money, the only difference you will see is poor gas mileage.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif to ebay chips!

P.S. If you really wanted to do it you could just buy the resistor from radio shack for a buck. I'm still not recommending it!!!

Re: Civic performance chip Good or Bad ? (bla1ne)

The only thing the ebay chips are good for is changing your vtec crossover(if u have vtec) and changing your rev limiter, but your motor will be runnin EXTREMELY RICH and lacking performance because of that!

Re: Civic performance chip Good or Bad ? (bla1ne)

Please don't call that a "chip". Those things are a 15 cent resistor from radioshack wrapped in a fancy package. Check my link and make one for yourself:

http://www.installuniversity.c...d.htm

They are a poor method for increasing power.

Do not i repeat do not buy them those things are not worth the money, whats going to happen is that u will end up messing up sensor! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif
