Civic part interchangeability... help.

Civic part interchangeability... help.
I am planning on replacing the front end body componants of my 97 civic hatch.
To those of the facelifted 99 hatch.
I know the front bumper, fenders, radiator support panel, hood, grill and headlights all need to be swapped.
However I can't get concrete information as to whether parts 9 & 10 in the illustration are requirerd to be replaced too.
Those parts are
9) Energy absorber - Japan/us built
10) Reinforce bar - Japan/us built
I have phoned 2 honda spares offical departments plus the head office in my state. However they had conflicted info. I have also received different answers from other reliable sources.
I want to be sure on this before i go buy all the parts. The part numbers are apparently the same according to one offical source. This conludes me to think that they dont need to be replaced. If they were different part numbers then that'd indicate a need for replacement to accomodate the surrounding newly swapped parts.
If anyone has done this or definately knows what I need Id appreciate your help.

Is it just me or is the 97 style lookin better and simpler and cleaner (at least in the 2 pics he provided)??? Why not spend that money elsewhere cause new hood and bumpers can be costly and will need paint of course also
just my 2 cents

Re: Civic part interchangeability... help. (civic dx)
Yeah It does look good too. I also do agree to a point that I could spend the money elsewhere. I guess for me and for that matter for most people is what opportunity cost is about. Choices and decisions.
Thing is I have roughly 71,000 miles on the clock and that kinda shows on the paintwork. Its not awful or anything. Just doesn't look as glossy as it used to on the front end where most of the stone chips and wear & tear etc come in contact with the car.
Plus all things being equal It may even be beneficial on resale down the track.
Having it look newer.
Those are possible secondary benefits to my main aim. That being to make my ride look like a 99-00 CTR.
I also really like the idea of putting in some foglights into the two outer vent bays.
like this
IMO it looks better than these
I appreciate your comments however If i could revert the attention of the thread back to why i started it please. Otherwise It'l probably turn into one of those "repost" arguments. Which I want to avoid so as i can get the help im after.

Yeah you did
Can you be more specific about why and how you know this. As I said in my first post. I have conflicted info about it.
Do you say I dont need those parts because you've done it before?
How can i be 100% sure your right?
Thanks btw to everyone. So far you've been helpfull.

From reading here are these forums, which is fairly reliable. All you need is the actually body pieces like bumper, fender, hood , grille. Chris y0! mentioned that already and you were still skepticle so I'm posting to say from what I know hes correct.

Re: Civic part interchangeability... help.
Well the replies are coming in consistantly.
I've sourced the best prices to be found for what I need. Thanks again to all.
Might try to post new topic with some pix of the process.

I don't know about In the U.S.
but 99-00 civic hatches didn't come out with B16A's in Australia (where I live)
only 96-98 ones did. They named the model "VTiR"
Only Coupes came with B16A from 99-00.

Re: (ReallySlowEg)
i dont mean to sound like an a$$ but the guy just asked a simple question on converting his 97 civic to a 99 style front end. does he need to change those parts in question (i forgot the names #9 and#10). simple as that yes or no .
this is the reason alot of threads get locked with out the question being answerd then when they repost people always say "repost"
well they have to because the questions never get answered
now for your question, i do not believe you need to change those parts because they do not connect to the body parts like bumper and fenders or grill. but you should check with people that have succesfully completed the swap.
