Civic OEM Foglights, Fuse burns out everytime i turn on foglights.
My foglights is acting weird on me. I barely had it for 2 weeks and it recently burned out, i had PIAA ion crystal bulbs as well.. . The problem i have is that the reason why the fogs don't work because everytime i would change a new fuse to the switch harness and turn on my fogs the first time, the fuse would burn right away. Does anyone know how or why it does that? and how i can fix it? The fuse burns everytime i replace a new fuse in the switch harness, and i went through at least 5 fuses today, trying different ones from 10 to 15, to 20, to 25 watts or whatever.

check the wiring...sounds like one of your wires is touching bare metal and shorting them out

yeah it sounds like a short. Be sure to use the right rated fuse too. You don't want to go lower than original because it will pop due to the lights requiring a larger load. Going higher on the fuse will get it to work, however you're break off point (when the fuse pops) is higher than intended. In otherwords you risk pumping too much current into the lights.
If you want to test for a short, put a larger # fuse in there. If it pops it, then very good chances you have a short in your system. Backtrack all the wireing and make sure nothing got messed up.

But, the thing is, the car was using 20 daily, and the fogs would work for about 2 weeks, why, all of a sudden when replacing so many fuses, it is so quick to burn up?

I tried, 25,20, 15, and they all blew....but when i first installed it, it was using 20 the whole time and would work like normal....confusing....

hmm that 20 amp fuse being on there for a while could have damaged some wires. overloading it. cause you dont need a 20 amp fuse in there unless ur running like 150W bulbs

yeah, start backtracking your wires. You have to have a short somewhere. Maybe something got chaffed and exposed.
