Civic noob, a few questions on power windows and keyless entry
Howdy folks. Recently picked up a 97 Civic EX project. First ever import for me...
Been doing a bit of searching and reading, but had a few specific questions. I'm sure there will be more, but I'll start with these two.
1. What I believe is called the "window run channel" - a metal track with the rubber window channel in it. The other day I had the door panel off to access the door latch. In the process of accessing the door latch, I removed the mounting bolt at the bottom of the channel, and was able to move it around freely, as if it wasn't attached to anything at the top. While this made accesssing the latch a breeze, I'm not sure if it was supposed to be this way or not. The window works but is a bit sluggish - I was just trying to figure out if this was a contributing factor.
2. Aftermarket radios and keyless entry. This car came with an aftermarket radio, and the OEM radio completely removed. Therefore, the keyless entry no longer works. I have a plan, but would like to get a second opinion on this plan: Buy a radio at the junk yard/ebay. Attempt to retrieve the unlock code (Is this even required for using it for keyless entry only?) Splice it in along with the aftermarket radio and hide it behind the dash. Reprogram existing key fob. Enjoy keyless entry.
TIA!
