civic needs new fuel pump
most likely im thinking it needs to be replaced. it started fine drove to the gas station to fill a tire and it wouldnt start back up. fired and fired but wouldnt turn over and run. most likely cause fuel pump.
i picked up a MSD pump that says 43gph for an Integra I had a few years ago that i was going to runa turbo setup on. now my question is this is a standard inline fuel pump would this pump fit and work in the civic? would the higher capacity of the pump be too much for the stock 1.5L engine? would my gas mileage go down? any other issues or concerns?
thanks for the help

It should run fine since your injectors are what control the amount of fuel that is entering the combustion chamber and not the fuel pump. Basically the fuel is supplied to the injectors but isn't injected until there is an electrical impulse received by the ECU.

Re: civic needs new fuel pump (94ex-vtec)
ok so i got the old fuel pump out and went to start putting the MSD unit in its place. there is a big screen atached to the bottom of the stock pump. the MSD pump feed side will not go into this screen attachment. do i need this big screen or can i just circle clamp a piece of screen to the end of the MSD pump and wire it up and put it in the tank?

Uhmmm, yeah, you need a screen in there.
Well, you still have a fuel filter and the injector screens themselves, but I sure as hell wouldn't risk it.
Even if you say it's only going to be temporary, you know it won't be once you get the pump in and the car runs.

Re: (IslandSi)
well I only paid $150 for the car so im trying to keep this super cheap and yeah nothing is temporary once its back together
what i was thinking was cut out a section of the filter and wrap it around the end of the MSD unit and circle clamp it

Don't do it. It'll clog too quickly and then you'll be screwed. IMO you'd be better off not running anything and just letting the fuel filter in the engine bay pick up all the crap. Change that just to be on the safe side.

oh yeah and sorry about the double dip

I'm pretty sure the fuel pump won't prime if the main relay's bad.
