Default civic > me (need help)

alright so Ive been having this problem when driving and holding a steady idle my car loses and gains power in a kindof rocking motion. any ideas on what this could be. the only code im throwing is for my 2ndary oxygen sensor which im almost positive is not the reason for this.

Car: 2000 civic hx

Mods: headers, cai, exhaust

thx in advance for the help

Yea, 2nd 02 sensor does not affect performance, its strictly for OBD2 emissions reasons. Could you clarify more on what you mean with your problem, its hard to tell what you mean.

What does your car do at idle?
What does your car do when leaving from a standstill?
What does your car do under normal driving?
What does your car do when you downshift and/or slow down to a stop again?

Need some more info on whats going on here.

at idle...it shakes a little bit and has a rough idle. backfires

when leaving from a standstill....normal

under normal driving......at slow speeds (below 30ish) gains and looses power. if I keep my foot on the gas and hold it steady at a certain rpm its will pull then slow down and keep doing so. will back fire also throughout all rpms.

Downshifting is normal..

Hmm, sounds like it may be timing/ignition related.
Whens the last time you had a tune up? (wires, cap, rotor, plugs, oilchange, filters, ect?)
How long has this problem been around?

A blinking check engine light is not a good sign. To the best of my knowledge, an ECU does that when it thinks its the wrong ECU for the motor it is running, based on not finding the correct sensors and too many codes being thrown. I could be wrong on that tho, so maybe someone can confirm this?

replaced all tune up related parts about 2 months ago, im prety sure the check engine light flashes when a misfire is taking place. I would think if it was detecting wrong sensors I would see when I pull the codes but idk. probably gonna just have to take it in to check timming. can somebody give me some timing related issues to see if it matches my problems.

thx

That may be a cause
