Icon2 civic knock sensor

I have a d16z6 in a 94 civic. after looking at some power chips i saw one that said it disables the knock sensor. what are the cons to having this mod?

i'm guessing these "power chips" are the crap on ebay... the d16z6 doesn't even have a knock sensor. those chips are absolute ****. don't waste money on stuff like that.

Yeah thanks, i didn't know that that motor doesn't have that sensor. how about a tip on making vtec kick in sooner than 5700ish rpms? I want to go for 37ish.

3700 is too low. Its supposed to kick in @ high RPM because they are cams geared for HIGH RPM power. If you are in LOW rpms they dont make power and then your powerband has a dip in it.

On the z6 vtec doesn't kick at 5700, more like 4800 or something like that.

Will you be doing this yourself? Or paying a shop?

Also a knock sensor, "senses knock" (not to be a smart a$$) so you wont detonate and blow your engine. Its like an extra safety. But as long as you run higher octane, and dont run lean and dont overrev the freak out the car you shoukd be perfectly fine without it.

theres no Knock Sensor on OBD1. And its a pretty useless sensor, I wonder how you could make a 130HP NA motor knock.
